Meet Olivia: From Acrobatic Gymnast to Sports Massage Therapist at Body Mechanics

At Body Mechanics, we’re proud to be home to a team of highly skilled therapists and coaches dedicated to helping people move better, recover faster, and perform at their best. One of our newest team members, Olivia, brings a unique blend of personal experience, passion for movement, and dedication to client care that makes her an invaluable part of our growing community.

A Journey Built on Movement

Olivia’s love for movement began long before she stepped into the world of sports therapy. As a competitive Acrobatic Gymnast, she trained and performed at a high level, representing her club in competitions across Germany, Wales, Scotland, and all over England. This background gave her a deep appreciation for the body’s capabilities and an understanding of how injuries and physical setbacks can impact not only performance but also confidence and quality of life.

Initially, Olivia thought her path would lead her into Physiotherapy. But during weekly work experience with our very own Jack Criddle - Senior Sports Therapist, she witnessed something that changed her perspective: the power of hands-on therapy to restore movement, ease pain, and rebuild strength.

“When I saw Jack applying his skills to help clients move pain-free, my passion for helping people grew in a completely new way,” Olivia explains. “After that experience with Body Mechanics, I knew this was the route I’d been searching for.”

A Personalised Approach to Recovery

Olivia’s clients quickly notice her open, honest, and empathetic approach. She’s clear about the journey ahead - explaining that recovery is rarely a quick fix and that real progress often takes multiple treatments and a commitment to the process.

Her priority in every session is to choose the right treatment for the individual, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. This means taking the time to understand each person’s goals, whether that’s recovering from an injury, improving mobility, or simply keeping their body in peak condition through regular maintenance.

“One thing I love most is being able to give clients exactly the help they need,” says Olivia. “I want them to feel supported at every step, knowing that we’re working together towards their recovery.”

Bringing Gym Discipline to the Treatment Room

Outside of work, Olivia trains regularly in the gym - not just to stay fit, but to keep herself grounded. This personal discipline mirrors the advice she gives to clients: progress takes time.

“Training reminds me that improvements and recovery don’t happen straight away. That’s something I carry into every treatment,” she says.

Her competitive gymnastics past also gives her a sharp eye for movement quality, balance, and functional strength - skills that enhance her ability to spot issues and guide clients through their recovery journey.

Why She Chose Body Mechanics

For Olivia, joining Body Mechanics was an easy decision.

“I was drawn to the passion for improvement and the level of care here. It’s different from anywhere I’ve worked before - the amount of thought and attention the team puts into everything is incredible. From my first day, they made me feel like part of the family.”

That shared commitment to improvement aligns perfectly with our philosophy of Movement with Purpose - moving not because you have to, but because you want to, and because you value what your body is capable of.
