Move Further.
Expert sports therapy, personalised rehabilitation and dedicated recovery facilities in Bridgwater. Helping you relieve pain, restore confidence and reach your potential.
01 / OUR APPROACH
Recovery is part of progress.
Progress isn't defined by how hard you train alone. Managing your training load, getting adequate rest and addressing physical limitations all play important roles.
At Body Mechanics, we bring together professional sports therapy and dedicated recovery facilities to support your individual needs.
More informed decisions.
Better long-term movement.
From managing persistent discomfort to supporting your training routine, our approach puts individual needs first.
02 / OUR SERVICES
Three ways to support recovery.
Professional treatment and purpose-built wellness facilities, brought together at Body Mechanics.
Sports Therapy
Individualised assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate and exercise-based rehabilitation to help address pain, movement limitations and training-related concerns.
Ice Bath
Dedicated cold-water immersion facilities for those who enjoy incorporating controlled cold exposure into their wellness or post-exercise routine.
Cold exposure is optional and isn't suitable for everyone.
Hybrid Sauna
A dedicated hybrid sauna offering a relaxing heat experience. An opportunity to unwind and make time for recovery between the demands of daily life and training.
Sessions should be adapted to individual tolerance and health.
03 / THE SCIENCE OF RECOVERY
Evidence-informed.
Individual-focused.
Different recovery strategies serve different purposes. We believe in understanding those differences rather than promising a universal solution.
Sleep, nutrition and appropriate training load remain fundamental. Our services complement these foundations.
Assessment and progressive rehabilitation can help guide recovery from many musculoskeletal problems.
May reduce perceived muscle soreness after demanding exercise. Frequent use immediately after strength training may interfere with some muscle adaptations.
Can support relaxation and provide a heat stimulus. Some cardiovascular benefits are promising, although research varies by sauna type and exposure protocol.
Consistent sleep, sufficient nutrition, progressive exercise and sensible workload management remain essential.
04 / RECOVER RESPONSIBLY
Make recovery work for you.
Heat and cold exposure aren't appropriate for everyone. People with cardiovascular conditions, blood pressure concerns, circulatory disorders, pregnancy or other relevant medical conditions should seek appropriate medical guidance before use.
- Build exposure gradually and avoid extremes.
- Never use heat or cold facilities while intoxicated.
- Stop immediately if you feel dizzy, faint or unwell.
- Follow all on-site safety guidance.
- Do not treat sauna or ice bath use as a replacement for medical care.
General wellness information only. Individual clinical advice may differ.
05 / FREQUENTLY ASKED
Before you recover.
What does sports therapy involve?
Your therapist will discuss your symptoms, assess relevant movement and function, and recommend an individualised approach. This may include hands-on treatment, exercise rehabilitation and advice.
Can I book sports therapy without a gym membership?
Sports therapy appointments can be booked independently of gym membership. Use the booking button to view appointment options.
Is an ice bath good after strength training?
Cold-water immersion can help with perceived soreness, but frequent use immediately after resistance training may reduce some muscle-building adaptations. Its value depends on your goals and training schedule.
What is a hybrid sauna?
A hybrid sauna combines more than one heating approach. The precise experience depends on the equipment and operating settings used at the facility.
Can sauna or ice baths treat an injury?
They should not be considered treatments for an underlying injury. If you have persistent pain, reduced function or concerning symptoms, an appropriate clinical assessment is recommended.
